INTERN STAFF POSITION - Camp Stevens - California

Camp Stevens has positions open for a residential camp and retreat center internship program. This is a unique opportunity for energetic and creative people who enjoy learning, growing and contributing to the whole camp operation. This operation includes socially conscious camp programs, physical property maintenance and intentional community living. Interns will serve a year living and working on this beautiful site just north of the mountain town of Julian, California (65 miles northeast of San Diego).

Job responsibilities: The staff will work as a team to maintain and support the physical site and food services operations, facilitate the environmental education and team building/high ropes course programs as well as lead program and host for weekend retreat groups.

About 10% of the time will be spent on training and community development. About 30% of the time will be spent facilitating programs and retreat groups. About 60% of the time will be spent learning and performing site maintenance which includes cooking, cleaning, dishwashing, organic gardening, wood chipping and splitting, trail work, and much more. Summer Camp staff opportunities are also available to those participating in the internship program.

Waycross Camp and Conference Leadership Intern Program - Indiana

Waycross has positions open for a residential camp and conference internship program.  This program is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills and administrative experiences in youth camping, outdoor education and operation of a vibrant conference center. This program is well suited for creative and energetic people who enjoy experiential learning, contributing to intentional community living and a desire to learn more about the operation of center serving adults, children and young adults.

Job Responsibilities: Interns will be providing key leadership in camp and conference programming as well as develop administrative and operational skills related to a year round camp and conference center. There are three different tracks currently offered. One focuses on senior high leadership camp programs, a second focuses on residential and trip camp programs, and a third on volunteer and adult programming as well as marketing and development activities.  All positions involve developing administrative and operational skills.  Interns will work with Waycross Administrative staff and the Summer Camp Director. The intern staff works an average of 5 days per week, except in the summer when all staff members work 6 days per week.

Hospitality Manager - Gravatt Camp and Conference Center - South Carolina

Position Purpose:  Responsible for coordinating a welcoming environment for all conference center guests.  Manages the overall food-service operation of the center including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, security, personnel management, customer service, and record keeping.  Supervises housekeeping services. 

 Essential Job Functions:

  1. Greet guests and ensure coordination of on-site Conference Center functions so that all needs are met.
  2. Manage the daily operations of all dining services including coordinating activities between the kitchen and dining room. Cook, especially when size of group does not warrant bringing in additional help.
  3. Oversee the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the kitchen, its equipment, dining hall and facilities.
  4. Ensure high quality and appropriate quantity of homemade meals and snacks for guests, within a budget.
  5. Manage human-resource functions with regard to kitchen, dining room, and housekeeping employees.
  6. Work closely with housekeeping staff and Director of Building and Grounds to ensure maintenance and aesthetic quality of the Conference Center.
  7. Ensure adherence to DHEC regulations, educating all staff as appropriate.

Retreat Host / Event Planner - All Saints Camp & Conference Center - Texas

Retreat Host / Event Planner -Conceive, organize, and execute special affairs such as corporate team building events, weddings, birthday parties, group reunions, and youth programs. Work on a 700 acre Christian Camp with 144 beds, two conference centers, extensive waterfront, dining hall, outdoor education and high/low ropes programs.

Bachelors degree in recreation, event planning, or similar field a must.  Training in high/low ropes, CPR, First Aid a plus, but training provided as needed.  A good imagination, an eye for detail, and sound business sense, must be both creative and organized.
