Camp Nurse - Jun. 15 - Aug. 15 - St. Dorothy's Rest, Camp Meeker, CA

The Camp Nurse position at St. Dorothy’s is a job for someone that truly enjoys working with children and a young adult staff, being outdoors and is interested in living in an intentional Christian community. Working in the St. Dorothy’s summer camp environment provides a fun, challenging experience and opportunities for growth and leadership.

The camp nurse reports directly to the Associate Director and is to be available to support and assist the program including transportation, adult supervision, assistance in program areas, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current licensed RN. Camp experience is preferred. Ability to be on call 24-hours a day. Flexible. Patient. This is a position for an emotionally mature person, as this can be an isolating and tedious job.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE AVAILABLE JUNE 15th to AUGUST 15th

Stipend based on qualifications. Housing & Meals provided.

DUTIES INCLUDE:
•    Stock and Supply Get Well Head Quarters (GWHQ)
•    Make First Aid kits for camp areas.
•    Maintain GWHQ.
•    Be present at registration table on opening day to meet with parents.
•    Create & Maintain daily medical logs
•    Distribute camp medications to staff & campers
•    Return medications to parents/guardians on closing days.
•    Follow standing orders from Occidental Health Clinic and communicate with referring physician when needed.
•    Abide by Dept. of California health codes.
•    Communicate health information/needs with parents
•    Dispense medications and keep a log.
•    Be on call, 24 hours a day when camp is in session.
•    Wear radio at all times-maintain privacy laws on radio-no medical information on radio.
•    Respond to medical camp emergencies.
•    Communicate specific camper health needs (allergies, special diets) to staff .
•    Abide by Code of Conduct and all information in staff manual.
•    Be available to accompany sick/injured campers or staff to the hospital. .
•    Manage lost and found.
•    Ensure wet sleeping bags are washed, dried and returned to cabins daily
•    Other duties as assigned.
