Hold a Camp Sunday in your parishes and diocese: Pray for camp, sing camps songs and raise money for scholarships. Tell your story of why camp and conference centers are essential. Support a young person you know in working for a summer or season at a retreat center. Invite your program and center leadership to address diocesan convention or visit and preach at your parish. Share ECCC and member centers’ social media posts with your community.
Schedule a recurring gift to a camp or conference center close to your heart. Many camps and conference centers have work weekends or needs for camp volunteers, including nurses and chaplains. Reach out to your local camp and ask them what they need.
Donors who contribute $500 or more each year will be invited to join Visionary Council. The Visionary Council are lay and ordained leaders with a passion for camping and retreat ministry. The Council helps broaden the vision of the ECCC Board of Directors and ensure a sustainable future for ECCC.
In partnership with the Claggett Center and Diocese of Maryland, for 2020, ECCC will offer five full scholarships and 20 partial scholarships (accommodations and meals; the remaining balance will be $200) to the Annual Conference.
These scholarships are available to self-identifying members of underrepresented or marginalized populations, currently serving, or interested in serving, in rising leadership positions at an Episcopal summer camp, retreat center, or conference center. We invite you to consider with intentionality the members of your staff and community who may be interested in, contribute to, and benefit from attending ECCC’s Annual Conference, and support them in applying and attending.
Do you believe in the life changing power of camp? Do you love your job and want to push yourself to learn more about being a successful camp administrator? Then the ECCC Leader’s Circle might be for you!

We were honored to have Presiding Bishop Michael Curry as our first keynote speaker at 2019’s Annual Conference, and moved by what he had to say — as in, “ready to get moving!” Watch the video of his keynote address here.
It is with great sadness that we share that Peter Bergstrom, founding member of Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers, its Executive Director for nine years, and Executive Director of Camp Stevens for forty, died on Christmas Eve.
Peter was the 2012 recipient of ECCC's Hero of Camping Ministry award, a visionary and empowering leader of camping and retreat ministries, an advocate for our outdoor places, an incredible mentor, curious traveler, supportive friend, and wonderful partner to Vicki.
If you wish to send a card, the address is 1038 Orchard Lane, Julian, CA 92036. In lieu of flowers, donations to any of the following would support work that was close to Peter's heart: Camp Stevens, Volcan Mountain Preserve Foundation, and James Hubbell's Ilan-Lael Foundation.
On January 16, 2017, we presented the second annual Peter Bergstrom Leadership Award, which recognizes a member of our community who has been a mentor and an advocate of the camping and retreat ministry.
