Upcoming Anti-Racism Education & Engagement Opportunities

  • Thursday, June 11: Whiteness at Work, Module 1 The Whiteness at Work webinar is a primer on how the norms of whiteness and anti-blackness show up in our workplaces. The recording is available here.

  • Monday, June 15, 7pm ET: Allyship for God's People with the Diocese of Atlanta and the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing: Allyship is a word we are hearing often in today's world. But what does it mean? As followers of Jesus, we believe it means to stand with the oppressed and marginalized. When we have privilege, how do we use it to share Good News while respecting the dignity of every human being? And what about the guilt or shame some carry in recognizing their privilege? This webinar will focus on responding to these questions and your questions. Join us. Let's discover new ways to amplify the celebrity of Jesus by taking steps towards working on ourselves and loving neighbor. Recording to be shared shortly.

  • Week of June 15: Ibram Kendi is one of the nation’s leading scholars on racism; he has written a new children’s book, Anti-Racist Baby, which is being released this week. His book tour is online with several “stops” this week. Sign up for one here.

  • Monday, June 22, 8:30pm ET: Organizing White Men for Collective Liberation, a working group of Showing Up for Racial Justice: The work of Internal Liberation is to clearly see and deeply feel our lived experiences as white men. We believe that this work can free us to engage honestly, and thus effectively, with patriarchy and white supremacy. These systems often show up internally as numbness, shame, and loneliness, and externally as anger, fear, and violence. Generations of folks impacted by that violence have been calling on us to support each other in reducing this harm, and we are committed to doing this work together. And there can be a deafening silence among us when it comes to the more intimate details of our lives. We use embodiment exercises and discussion to feel into those un-felt territories and break our long-held silences. This work can seem very quiet, but our experience it deeply transforms us. We engage in this work through online video conference call workshops on the fourth Monday of every month at 8:30 PM EST. Our next gathering is Monday, June 22nd register with this link.
