ECCC Racial Justice Work Listening Sessions

Hello ECCC community,

Blessings and greetings from the ECCC Racial Justice Committee! We hope that since we saw you last, you have had holy and transformational summers, that your fall planning is generative, and that your ministry is flourishing.

This announcement is to invite all who feel called into a Listening Space surrounding ECCC’s racial justice work. These sessions will be designed to ground ourselves in our shared values, to commit ourselves to racial justice work, and to give our committee feedback surrounding racial reconciliation. Some info about these sessions:

The goal of these listening sessions will be to listen as the racial justice committee (and as a community). This means our time will focus on gathering feedback to help our ECCC community as we continue forward, and as we approach the Annual Conference in February.

Our listening Space will be broken into 3 sessions: one will be for BIPOC individuals, one will be for those who identify as white, and the final session will be for all to attend. You don’t need to sign up in advance. The dates are:

  • White affinity group listening session: November 20th, 6-7:30pm EST

  • BIPOC affinity group listening session: November 21st, 2-3:30pm EST

  • Open listening session: December 5th, 3-4:30pm EST

Each space will be facilitated by a member of the Racial Justice committee; these are members of the ECCC community who have been engaged in meaningful work for some time, and familiar faces.

All of our work is grounded in our DEIJB statement, which can be found on our website here. Please look this over before coming to a session.

The general format of our space will be open with guiding questions. Participants will agree to some grounding principles before starting. Participants are also asked to fill out this form before the meeting and send it to Justice@episcopalccc.org.

We hope that you will be able to join us in these listening spaces. Each of our centers are dedicated to holy and transformational work, and it is the goal of the ECCC community to walk alongside one another - especially as we engage in the difficult task of racial reconciliation. By providing us with feedback, we can determine how to continue this work in love, and can build even more resources within our network.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email the racial justice committee directly (Justice@episcopalccc.org). Keep an eye out for the Zoom Links to each individual listening session.

Moved by God’s unconditional love,

ECCC Racial Justice Committee
